Water Management Program
Thank you for this opportunity to introduce our Water Management Program. It is a system based on the California State Assembly Bill AB325 for "Landscape Water Conservation"; the model ordinance developed for cities throughout California during the six-year drought of 1986-1992.
Benefits of this System:
- Provides you with a tool to measure, anticipate and budget for your water usage and cost.
- Tracking water used through the irrigation meter creates a system to detect leaks quickly.
- Losses from leaks through swimming pools and fountains can be measured and evaluated against the cost of remedy.
- Annual costs to repair asphalt damaged by excessive water run-off are virtually eliminated.
- Unpredictable water costs are reduced because the guesswork to provide what the plants need and when they need it is eliminated.
- Plant health and longevity is improved reducing replacement costs.
- Leaching of nutrients into ground water is greatly reduced.
- This program is a powerful tool with local water suppliers by demonstrating responsible and consistent resource management.
Development / Start-up:
Water management begins with all components of the system operating properly. We take a number of steps to ensure this.
- A diagnostic report is provided to budget repairs and upgrades for increased efficiency.
- Meters are installed where necessary, at a one-time investment to monitor usage indefinitely.
- Clocks are programmed to alleviate run-off and encourage deeper root systems.
- A water budget for your site is then calculated based on the following:
- The location/climate of your particular site.
- The type of plants and their relative water needs.
- The square footage of each type of plant material.
- The efficiency of the system to deliver each gallon of water to the plants.
- The seasonal water requirements based on evaporation and transpiration.
System Operation:
- Meters are read weekly to track water usage.
- A monthly report of water used versus water budgeted is delivered by the 10th of each following month which includes commentary on water activities.
We offer this service at a nominal fee to our current customers and also to companies happy with their current vendors but who need an accurate irrigation management system. This program provides a true and scientific water management system that will comply with Assembly Bill 325 when the next drought inevitably begins.

Tree Pruning and Arboriculture Services
We have a Certified Arborist on staff with over 40 years of combined experience to handle any tree needs on your property.
We offer complete pruning services and adhere to the specifications below.
Because there is such a broad interpretation in the term 'tree pruning' we recommend having a clearly defined specification for contractors to bid for. Without clearly defined specifications a contractor could make one cut per tree and satisfy the 'tree pruning' term on the contract
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A300 Pruning Specifications are recognized by the International Society of Arboriculture. Under these specifications two different pruning objectives are considered- Hazard Reduction Pruning and Maintenance Pruning.
For each of these objectives six types of pruning are identified:
- Crown Cleaning: Removal of dead, dying, diseased or weak branches and water sprouts.
- Crown Thinning: The selective removal of branches to increase light penetration, air movement and reduce weight.
- Crown Raising: The removal of lower branches to provide clearance.
- Crown Reduction (crown shaping): Reduction of height spread of a tree. Note: Only a limited number of trees can withstand this type of pruning.
- Vista Pruning: The selective thinning of framework limbs or an area of the crown to allow for a specific view.
- Crown Restoration: Pruning to improve the structure, form, and appearance of a tree that has been severely headed, vandalized, or storm damaged.
Follow these steps to write a clear specification for tree pruning:
- Verify the company is a Licensed Contractor. If not, your insurance will cover their injured workers.
- State that "All pruning shall be done in accordance with the ANSI A300 standard."
- Clearly identify the trees to be pruned, including the location.
- Specify the pruning objective - Hazard Reduction or Maintenance Pruning.
- Choose one or more of the six pruning types to describe the work to be done. You need to specify the pruning types for both Hazard Reduction and Maintenance Pruning.
- Where appropriate, specify the minimum or maximum diameter of branches to be removed.
- Where appropriate, specify location of pruning or branch to be removed. Usually done for crown raising, crown reduction, or vista pruning.
